Sinestro, first appearing in Green Lantern #7 (1961), is a prominent character in the DC universe, most notably associated with the Green Lantern Corps.
Originally a highly respected member of the Green Lantern Corps from Sector 1417, Sinestro was Hal Jordan's mentor. He was considered one of the greatest Green Lanterns, known for his effectiveness in maintaining order in his sector.
However, Sinestro's methods were revealed to be tyrannical, ruling his sector with fear rather than justice. His use of dictatorial power ultimately led to his expulsion from the Green Lantern Corps. He then forged a yellow power ring on the planet Qward, which used fear as its power source.
As a recurring antagonist, Sinestro has been a persistent threat to the Green Lantern Corps and Hal Jordan in particular, constantly seeking power and control through fear. He eventually formed his own Sinestro Corps, a group of fear-powered warriors dedicated to bringing order through fear.
